Sleeper bus from Mumbai to Hyderabad

Taking the sleeper bus from Mumbai to Hyderabad is a great way to travel between the two cities overnight. You board in the evening and arrive in Hyderabad the following morning without losing a day to travel.

Hyderabad has two distinct sides. The Old City around Charminar holds centuries of Qutb Shahi and Mughal history: mosques, royal tombs, pearl bazaars, and bangle markets. A few kilometres west, HITEC City is one of India's major technology districts, with campuses of global companies and a skyline that reads as entirely 21st century.

If your trip covers heritage sightseeing, the Old City markets, or the technology quarter, this is a straightforward way to get there.

How to board your FlixBus in Mumbai

FlixBus has stops distributed across Mumbai. When you book, choose the one closest to your location and confirm the exact address on your ticket. Arrive 15 minutes before departure.

To get around Mumbai and reach your FlixBus stop, there are multiple transport options:

  • Suburban rail (local trains): Mumbai's three suburban lines cover most of the city. The Western Line runs from Churchgate north through Bandra, Andheri, Borivali, and beyond. The Central Line connects CSMT to Dadar, Kurla, and Thane. The Harbour Line links CSMT to Panvel via Kurla and Vashi. Many FlixBus stops are within walking distance of a suburban station. Use the m-Indicator app for schedules and fares.
  • Metro: Several metro lines serve the suburbs. Metro Line 1 runs east-west between Versova and Ghatkopar. Metro Line 2 covers the western suburbs from Dahisar to Mankhurd. Metro Line 3 (Aqua Line) runs underground through the airport, Bandra-Kurla Complex, Dharavi, Dadar, and CSMT.
  • Auto-rickshaws: Available throughout the suburbs for short distances. Not permitted in South Mumbai below Bandra and Sion.
  • Ola and Uber: Available 24/7 across the city. The most practical option if you are travelling with luggage or heading to a stop that is not directly on a train line.

Getting around Hyderabad

Hyderabad's metro, city buses, and app cabs cover the main areas well.

  • Metro: Three corridors with 60 stations cover most of the city. The Red Line runs from Miyapur to LB Nagar via Ameerpet. The Blue Line runs from Nagole to Raidurg through Ameerpet and Secunderabad. The Green Line connects JBS Parade Ground to MG Bus Station. Ameerpet is the main interchange for the Red and Blue lines. Trains run from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. Use the TSavaari app for journey planning and QR tickets.
  • MMTS suburban rail: A commuter rail network operated by South Central Railway, covering suburbs not on the metro. Secunderabad station is the main hub.
  • City buses: TGSRTC operates an extensive network across the city and suburbs, including E-Metro AC (electric, air-conditioned) and Metro Express services.
  • Auto-rickshaws: Available across the city for short distances.
  • Ola and Uber: Available 24/7. The practical choice for airport transfers and travel after 11 p.m. when the metro closes.

Things to do in Hyderabad

  • Charminar: Built in 1591 CE by Muhammad Quli Qutb Shah to mark the founding of Hyderabad. The four-minaret structure rises 56 metres at the historic crossroads of the Old City, with 149 steps to the upper floor. Laad Bazaar (bangles and jewellery) and Mecca Masjid are immediately alongside.
  • Golconda Fort: A vast fortified complex 9 to 11 km west of the city, expanded by the Qutb Shahi kings from a 12th-century mud fort. The inner fort rises on a granite hill 120 metres high. A notable acoustic trick: clapping under the entrance dome creates an echo audible on the hilltop almost 1 km away. A sound and light show runs in the evenings.
  • Salar Jung Museum: One of the largest one-man antique collections in the world, assembled by Mir Yousuf Ali Khan, former Prime Minister of Hyderabad. The collection spans sculpture, manuscripts, weapons, textiles, and decorative arts from across Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. The Veiled Rebecca, a marble sculpture that appears to show a face through a veil, is the most visited piece.
  • Chowmahalla Palace: The palace complex of the Nizam rulers, founded in 1751 in the Old City. It served as the seat of the dynasty and the venue for state ceremonies. The complex includes two courtyards, the grand Khilwat Mubarak Durbar Hall, vintage carriages, and an armoury. UNESCO Asia Pacific Heritage Award winner.
  • Mecca Masjid: One of the largest mosques in India, immediately south of Charminar, completed in 1694. Named because bricks in the central arch were made from soil brought from Mecca. It's a working mosque, so dress modestly when visiting.
  • Birla Mandir: A Hindu temple built from white Rajasthani marble on a rocky hill, with views across Hussain Sagar and the city skyline. Dedicated to Lord Venkateswara and inaugurated in 1976. Worth visiting at sunrise or sunset.
  • Qutb Shahi Tombs: A royal necropolis next to Golconda Fort with the tombs of seven Qutb Shahi sultans, built between 1543 and 1672 CE. Around 30 domed structures in landscaped gardens, substantially restored between 2013 and 2019 with support from the Aga Khan Trust for Culture. On the UNESCO Tentative World Heritage List.
  • Shri Peddamma Talli Devalayam: One of Hyderabad's most important temples, dedicated to Goddess Peddamma, the presiding deity of the city. Located in Jubilee Hills, it is the focal point of the Bonalu festival each July and August, when large processions converge from across the city.
  • NTR Gardens: A 36-acre park on the banks of Hussain Sagar with walking paths, sculptures, and lake views. A popular evening spot for families, next to the IMAX theatre complex.

Best time to visit Hyderabad

  • Winter (October to February): The most comfortable season. Clear skies and cool evenings make it good for outdoor sightseeing at Golconda Fort, the Qutb Shahi Tombs, and the Old City streets.
  • Summer (March to June): Temperatures on the Deccan Plateau peak in April and May. Plan outdoor sightseeing for early mornings and evenings and use indoor attractions during the midday heat.

The sleeper bus from Mumbai to Hyderabad gets you to the city by morning, with the Old City, the fort complex, and the rest of Hyderabad waiting. Book at flixbus.in and select the Mumbai stop nearest to where you are staying.
